 "-and the linearity is- whuh?" Blinking, Cranky adjusted his glasses a touch as he observed the gem. "...you found that in the crater...?"  "Yep; along with a killer robot. You know anything about it?" "Know anything about- for crying criminies' sake!" Cranky grunted as he waved his cane in the general direction of the Kong's. "Don't you whippersnappers know anything about history?!" "...uh... history, Cranky?" "The console wars! 8-bits vs. 16-bits! Blast Processing! Genesis Does What Nintendon't! Don't you kids know anything about games in the early 90s?!" Before Cranky could go off on another rant, Diddy quickly raised his hands. "Wait, what does that have to do with the gem?" " Everything! That there gem's a powerful artifact from an entirely different franchise! A Chaos Emerald!" |

"...I dunno; I guess it processes blasts?" Diddy assumed, as he rubbed his cap. "...well, we at least know what-" "Confound it, whippersnappers!" Cranky shot in crankily as he slammed his cane against the wooden floor like a gavel. "You're not taking this seriously! That gem could be just as strong as the Crystal Coconut!" Diddy gawked at that, as he looked at Cranky. "Are you serious?! How's that possible?!" And Cranky rolled his eyes. "And now you're takin' ol' Cranky seriously. Always doting your elders when it's time to relay convenient plot progression, but until then, no, we can't appreciate the good ol' days before everyone was afraid that polygons were gonna ruin gaming! Let me tell you whippersnappers something; we already faced the ruination of gaming in '83, and we climbed outta that pitfall right as rain! Any time that couldn't appreciate just using a single or two buttons for their games at a time is a-" "Someone cut him off please... again." Diddy groaned as Cranky went off on another tangent. |

"Right... see, the thing about the Chaos Emerald is that it isn't a singular gem... there's seven of them." "...seven?" "Seven." Cranky nodded. "See, you need all seven... well, it was six in the original, and even then you only got them to get the marginally better ending to the game, but the second game added a seventh one, and if you got them and had 50 rings-" " What?" Diddy uttered with wide eyes; not having any idea what he was talking about. Cranky sighed. " Ineducated whippersnappers... Basically, if you get all seven of the gems, you're granted unimaginable power; basically letting you do anything you can think of. Separately, they're powerful in their own way... but gathered together, you get something on par with a god." |

"You mean we have to leave the islands?" They barely do that unless it was to go to a sporting event held by Princess Peach. Is she scared? Nope... More of thrilled! She hasn't been on an adventure for so long, and this might be a chance to see the Mushroom Kingdom and the other countries. |
