As we all know in Mario games, power-ups are big! Ever the Sonic games have power-ups lying around places. Littered around the zones your characters may find either a ?-Mark box if on the Mushroom World (except in the DK Isles) or a computer monitor. Hitting it would give either an item, something bad or even money/rings.
Rings are of course used to defend your character from being hit and aren't currency like the coins, though it is an exception to the Chaos. You character can use either of them to purchase new items from their stores. Because of the Chaos Control, you might see an item that's not normally from that world, who knows?
Characters can hold up to five items they either buy or find. Though certain items are automatically used once found such as the Robotnik-screen or the Starman, and thus can't be stored.
* Even if a character get hits and loses their rings, it doesn't subtract from the player's account
Unless a staff member gives any extra, players can only find up to three blocks/monitors in a zone per thread. Hitting it, roll a 10-sided dice and depending on the number, one of the results below appears.
Sometimes the staff will give you the item without rolling a dice. Maybe one not even on the list!
When rolling for either a shield or a flower, your character might get a 4 on the roll. This lets them have either a Gold Shield (Sonic 3D Blast) or a Power Flower (Super Mario 64 DS). They don't have to bring out the usual stat increase as the usual flowers or shields, but bring out a special ability. At times this can recharge a POW move, other times it might bring out a special form such as Metal Wario, or Invisible Luigi. Depends on the character
Is your favorite power-up not here? Don't worry, there's a chance it might be in Toad Houses or Chao Stores, from the ever favorite suits of SMB3 to the caps in SM64!
Keep in mind some items might change depending on the environment. The Super Mario Galaxy items would be in space, and Wario Land pots in his lands for example.
