Name:
Phanto Guy
Nicknames:
Mask Guy; Face Guy; Phantom Guy
Before possession:
Music Guy and Phantom respectively
Age:
25 years
Gender:
Male
Species:
Shy Guy possessed by a powerful Phanto
Affiliation:
Neutral; Allegiance only to his Key
Description:
At first glance he seems like a regular blue Shy Guy, but soon you notice that he has a lute and carries a backpack with him (both not shown). Finally you notice his strange grin and eyes, and realize this really ain't no ordinary Shy Guy.
Status:
Before the fusion Music Guy used to be a bard back in his home village in Subcon, playing wonderful tunes on his lute and "singing" along beautifully, while Phantom was one of the three guardians of the Key to an ancient temple in the vast deserts of Subcon. Following the possession however Phanto Guy has taken the key he was supposed to guard, as well as his two fellow Phanto guardians, with him and is now somewhat of a wandering Bard and Guardian.
World:
Subcon... not sure if part of the Mushroom World or a world on its own.
Location:
Free as a bird! Wanders the world, wherever his feet takes him.
Abilities:
Being a Shy Guy with the enhancing powers of a Phanto, his physical prowess are slightly above that of his species. He is stronger than a regular Shy Guy, but still can't compare to the Mario and Knuckles is terms of power; He is quicker than his brothers and sisters, but still fall short compared to Sonic and Shadow; and though being a magical construct/computer fused to a brain his mental abilities are still far from that of Eggman and E. Gadd.
He does however have a limited Telekinetic ability, and I do mean limited. Just like regular Phantos he can use it to lift himself off of the ground to both fly and simply float in mid-air. He can also use it to pick up the Key if stolen and dropped by the thief, which enables him to carry it back to its home. Outside of that however, no dice.
He does however use the key as a weapon, his only weapon actually, similar to a swordsman with his blade. This key is not as weak as one might think and actually packs a punch, being made of the same material as the Phantos protecting it, but it shares the same weakness as Phanto Guy and every other Phanto.
He also inherited the musical ability of Music Guy, and can perform rather good tunes on both lute and "song", entrancing his audience no matter what the species (if one cares for such music, that is).
Weakness:
While the Phanto side of him makes him stronger, quicker and more agile than regular Shy Guys, as well with an intellect well above that of a normal minion, Phantos are mute beings. That along with the seclusion of the Shy Guy species native to Subcon, he really doesn't speak much. When he does it is only in the native language of Shy Guys, a language composed of whistles in different tunes, while he still can understand the "common" language rather well.
Being part Phanto he is tied to his key more than Knuckles to the Master Emerald. Wherever the key goes he follow, and should someone have taken it he will get it back no matter what the cost. The key difference (no pun intended) being that where normal Phantos simply strike at the target 'till the key is dropped, Phanto Guy can strike deals in order to get his key back from the thief. In this fashion he can more or less be ordered by whoever carries it, though to a limit of course.
All Phantos are close to indestructible, as are the keys they protect and the vases spread across Subcon. Phanto Guy's facemask shares that ability, while the rest of him is still a mere mortal like everyone else.
Also, all Phantos share one big weakness with their keys, and Phanto Guy similarly: Purpose. Once his purpose is in one way or another fulfilled, he ceases to be, as is with the key. Should the key be stolen and used upon the door to the hidden temple in Subcon, it simply poofs out of existence. And once the key does so, so do the Phantos protecting it. Or rather the Phantos turn into mere clay masks and lose all their magical powers, rendering them inert and useless for other than ornament. What this will do to Phanto Guy is unknown, but most likely it ain't that good.
POW Move:
He and his two Phanto brothers are all three guardians of the Key, and thus must protect no matter what. If someone other than Phanto Guy should get their hands on the key his two brothers will float out of his backpack and assist him in trying to get it back, no matter what the cost. These two nigh-indestructible constructs will speed across the area, seeking for the keythief and try to take him down by smashing into him and knock the key out of his grasp. Once the key is loose they will attempt to take it back to Phanto Guy, and once it's in his possession they will return to the backpack, awaiting the call of the key once more.
Chaos/Magic Ability:
With Magic or Chaos power enhancing him, he gets the ability to literally entrance listeners with his music. When he starts playing on his lute those around him fall into an almost trance-like state, and soon enough falls asleep. A slight bump might wake the victim up though, a knock on the head certainly so, and thus this ability is mostly for defensive purposes.
Personality:
Before the fuse Music Guy was a goodhearted and charismatic fellow, albeit with a streak of witty laziness. He always helped out when asked, though he often tried to stay hidden if he knew there were things to be done. His love for music was unmatched by any Shy Guy, thus giving him his name, and whenever his priced lute was in danger he wasn't late trying to run away from the problem, and in worse cases even defend the instrument. A wanderer and adventurer at heart, he travelled far in wide in search for new experiences to sing about.
Phanto Guy on the other hand lacks much of Music Guy's charisma and good heart, instead being a somewhat selfish guy. He did keep his wit and laziness though, not to mention the love for music and the wanderlust. His key matters first and foremost to him, even before his own safety, and he would stop at nothing to get to the key and the one who took it from him.
History:
Phanto Guy began his life as two beings; Music Guy, an adventurous bard from a Shy Guy village in the jungles of Subcon, and Phantom, one of the three guardians to the key to an ancient temple deep in the Subcon deserts.
Music Guy, while good hearted, never really enjoyed the normal duties around the village, and thus often left to seek out adventure and new experiences for his songs, having his singing and music more or less becoming his profession. While they still wanted him to do chores like everyone else, he always managed to sneak away whenever they came around.
Out on one of these journeys he stumbled upon a Subcon vase, said to contain the Secret of Voice, a magic artifact strong enough to spell the gods themselves with the sound of its song. In there he found a weird mask lying inactive on the floor. This mask was in fact Phantom, resting due to the Vault Key still being protected. Believing it to be the Artifact he was looking for, he picked the mask up, threw away his own Shy Guy mask, and put the "artifact" on. The souls of Phantom and Music Guy combined into Phanto Guy, the being he is today. He stepped into the chambers where the actual key to the vault was kept hidden, picked it up and stuffed into his backpack, the one that used to belong to Music Guy'. He then picked up his two fellow guardians, his "brother" Phantos, stuffed them into the backpack as well, and left for new adventures.
Sample:
He had heard of these things before: Bandits! A sub-species of Shy Guys that have developed in the cities around the Mushroom World, and who's greed makes them even worse scoundrels than Wario, hence giving their species its name. Their longing for the belongings and shinies of others is almost as bad as Phanto Guy's will to protect his own shiny key, and having it out in the open like a weapon doesn't lessen his lust for it. Not to mention his two buddies, who break the odds and strengthens their resolve even further.
One of them launched himself at him, seeking to steal the key and get away with it to do... whatever it is Bandits do with the stuff their steal. Phanto Guy parried him and beat him back, not seeing the baseball flying towards him from the shadows. At last moment he dodged, only to hear a snap from right behind him followed by a thud. He turned around only to see the face of a Bandit, carrying Phanto Guy's lute on his back. The Bandit blew a raspberry in his face, before speeding off between his buddies and into the shadows, his two allies quickly following him. Another baseball flew by, but Phanto Guy just beat it back, soon hearing a thud. As he sped after the three bandits he noticed a Green Glove, one of the two Baseball Guys subspecies of Shy Guys, lying seemingly knocked out in a pile of baseballs. He ignored him and followed the footsteps of the Bandits in front of him, into the darkness.
