While as Anita, she might be hyper and tough, but she is just a child so she doesn't have much powers. Though she is athletic, more than her brother. As a hedgehog, she has the traditional abilities like the spin dash.
Mail is a skillful swordsman, she can use small daggers or even long swords with ease, as long as she can lift them. Her main sword even has the magical power to flare up in flames. She wears mail like her name to protect herself and shields for extra defense.
Weakness:
Anita is very hyper go-active and full of energy, so without her increase abilities this gets her into trouble when she insults those like villains.
As for Mail, she might seem cold and distant at first, but when you get to know her... she's obviously isn't. She's very in your face, violent and rash. When things don't go her way, she can make tantrums like a little kid even.

Anita is a tomboy little girl, she teases others she think are silly and doesn't shake if fear from danger. The complete opposite from her brother, loud, impolite and athletic.
Popful Mail is a skillful swords hedgehog using her skills to be a bounty hunter. Partially do have some fun busting some bad guys, other reason just to get some money and spoil herself with nice treats. While she can be very rash and rude, deep down she can be very soft and sincere person who'll do what she can to protect her friends and others.
History:
Anita is Nikki's little sister, and good friends with Amy and eventually got to met up with Sonic and his gang. One day when she wanted to met up with the fable heroes, she was accidently kidnapped along with Amy to the fabled Little Planet, which held magical artifacts called the Time Stones Eggman seek.
Anita managed to make some ruckus and escape, though not the planet. But she managed to get in contact with a Time Stone, unaware of what it was, she accidently caused a mutation in herself. At certain points, Anita is able to age herself by 8 years, calling herself Popful Mail, she was able to help out in the battles and make her way home with her new swordsman ship and magical abilities she seem to be destined to learn. However, even though thePopful Mail form was still in Anita. Most of the times she grows up when she's in a crisis, other times when near a power-up like a Super Mushroom. Either way, Anita is thrilled to use it on adentures, finally joining those like Amy and the great hero Sonic.

Back then in the 90's. there was a game called Popful Mail that SEGA was going to do the SMB2-Doki Doki Panic thing on, replacing the characters with Sonic guys and introducing Sonic's sister... fans complain a real dubbed was made. Still, I bring you the hedgehog version of Mail should she have appeared!
