Yoshi Island - Early Birds

Phanto Guy were, to say the least, startled when Woods suddenly appeared through the bushes. He thought he had kept his eyes open, but that gem... yeah, it had caught his eyes. Stupid mistake. He looked up at the red Yoshi, about the head higher than Phanto Guy, and got ready to defend himself. But upon second glance he couldn't see any ill intent in the guy. Similarly, when turning to Kage, he merely saw curiosity and bepuzzlement on his face. Still, there was something about that gem...

He looked back up at Woods, and tapped his mask twice. He was named after his mask after all. He then dodged past him and ran over to Kage, whistling alarmingly while pointing at the gem. His gut told him to watch out for that strange piece of rock they had there, and his gut had been right at times. He was interrupted though by a small orb which flew in from the jungle and struck him on the head before falling to the ground, finally landing by his feet. He rubbed the sore spot on his head a bit, before angrily looking down at the foreign object.



"Prepare for trouble!" a voice said from the jungle.
"And make it double!" another chimed in with the first.

Then, the strange little orb started spewing out thick smoke, soon filling the glade with a heavy smog.

"I have a bad feeling about this." He turned to the cheif "I think there's gonna be a tussle, better get ready" then he turned back to Phanto guy "you seem pretty freaked out about this...gem... So it must be pretty important. Keep it with you and whatever you can do to fight, do it."

Kage looked down at the gem then back up only to be surrounded by the smog.



"Well this has been a rather interesting day... What's next? A goomba in a tutu?"

Phanto Guy looked up at Woods, and nodded. He ran over and picked up the gem, and holding it close he ran past Woods and Kage, placing them between himself and where the smokebomb had come from.



The contours of two beings could be seen in the smoke, leaping out of the bushes and landing on the other side of the glade. Now Phanto Guy was the one closest to the strangers instead of the two Yoshis, as was the gem. The two strangers began a strange... chant.

"To protect the world from all its riches;"
"To become this island's greatest snitchers;"
"To take what is yours and do it with a blast;"
"To create technology that is unsurpassed;"

The smog finally cleared, revealing on the other side of the glade two Bandits, turned away from the trio. Their arms crossed in front of them, and each carried some sort of ray gun in their outer hands.


"Adam!" said the one on the left, dressed in a red camouflage-patterned robe and with a brown fedora on his head, as he turned his head towards them.


"Jamie!" said the other on the right, having a robe which was green where Adam's was red and sporting a black beret in place of Adam's fedora, as he too faced them.


"Team Sprocket, technology is our forte and niche!" said Adam, and pointed his gun at the two Yoshis and the Shy Guy.


"Now do as we say or prepare to put on a leash!" followed Jamie, pointing his own gun at the trio in the glade.


"Capiche?" they finally said in unison. A click could be heard, and sparks could soon be seen jumping between the collars of the ray guns. They were locked and loaded, as one would say.

With a smug grin, woods, now walking towards the two figures retorted "ok first off, you may want to work on that little chant of yours, and second, if you really want this gem..." He walked back to his companions, preparing to fight "well you can come and get it."

The blue yoshi just slapped his face at the bandits entrance.



"I'm sorry but that was the corniest thing I've seen all day. You call yourselves bandits? I'm surprised you didn't just grab the gem while the place was filled with smoke."

He looked over to see Woods getting ready to fight and he to got into a stance.

"I wouldn't just hand it over through."

"And miss an entrance like that? What kind of amateurs do you take us for?" Adam said with a sneer. He looked over at Phanto Guy, or more particularly the gem he was carrying. "That the one, Jamie?" he asked, nodding towards the gem and blue-clad Shy Guy, clearly in a worse mood than mere seconds earlier.


Jamie raised his other arm, revealing on it a small watch-like device. "Indeed so Adam, that is the one! I receive the same kind of strange emissions as I did back at the lab!" he said, and lowered his arm again. He looked back up at the three. "Gentlemen, we can do this the easy way, or we can do it the hard way."


Adam fired his gun, hitting the ground right in front of Phanto Guy, who jumped back in surprise. "And only one of the two means I have to improve my aim! So which is it gonna be then? Will you hand over that gem, or do we have to dress you up as Swiss-cheese for Halloween?" he said, and pointed his gun at Kage. Jamie, meanwhile, pointed his own weapon at Woods, who appeared to be his opponent for this rough-housing.


Phanto Guy just clutched the gem tighter to his chest, and began backing away towards the Yoshis. He wouldn't be able to do combat with the gem in his hands, so he thought it best to just get out of the way. If push came to shove he could just make a run for it, but he sincerely hoped it didn't have to come to that.

"You know, there is two ways we could do this. The easy way would be us knocking your little heads together and turning you right around, and the REAL easy way would be you two just walking away and never coming back. So which will it be?"

Kage just laughed.

"Amatuers?! I wouldn't even give you that! More like two bandit wannabe's who failed miserably in drama!"

He continued to stand there laughing before he finally calmed down.

"Anyways. Putting us on a leash? What do you think we are? Chain-chops?"

"And besides those toy guns will look good in the trash."

"Hard way it is then." Jamie sighed, and fired his ray gun at silent bystander Phanto Guy. "Have at 'em, Adam!" he said and focused his gaze at Kage, the village leader, his opponent for this battle, before firing a shot at him too.


"With pleasure, Jamie!" Adam said, and seemingly smashed his gun against his hand. "I was getting bored of this gag anyway!" The gun melted onto it, and morphed into what looked like some sort of glove. It even changed colour, the colours of the gun mixing to form shades of black and white instead of the former purple and green. Adam flexed his fingers, and the glove crackled with energy in reply. "So, how'd'ya like my Power Glove? Bad, isn't it?" He asked, and leapt for the red Yoshi. The glove sparked with power as he flew through the air towards Woods, and Adam readied himself to strike down his opponent.


Phanto Guy, on the other hand, took the brunt force of Jamie's figurative first blood. He raised his hands to protect himself, momentarily forgetting the gem which took the shot for him. What is the effect of firing a charge on energy into a Chaos Emerald, you ask? Well, he flew backwards, sparking with energy as he did so, and hit one of the lining trees with a thud, falling to the ground stunned. He kept his grip on the gem, which too seemed to crackle with energy, but was for most intents and purposes knocked out cold.

Kage watched as Phanto Guy was shot. Or at least, protected by the gem. He then noticed the shot heading in his direction and he rolled out of the way.

"That's the best you've got? I could of dodged that blindfolded!"

He moved over to the gem. Causious to pick it up as he looked at Phanto Guy.

"Thank goodness he's just out cold."

Kage then turned back to Jamie and cracked his knuckles.

"Let me show you why you don't mess with yoshis."

And with that he shot his tongue out in an attempt to grab Jamie.

Woods tried his best to dodge adams attack, but he was hit full force when adam landed on him
