Name:
Mario
Nickname:
Jumpman, Hero of Legend, Mr. Mustache, Red-Cap, Gonzales
Age:
26 (According to the Japanese SSBM trophy stand)
Gender:
Male
Species:
Human
Affiliation:
Good
Description:
Status:
Plumber, part-time hero of the Mushroom Kingdom, carpenter, demolition-man, kart racer, sports enthusiast, doctor on the side, etc.
Location:
Mushroom Kingdom, formerly Brooklyn
Abilities:
In spite of his portly appearance, Mario is incredibly athletic, with capabiliy of leaping well over 20 feet in the air, and possessing incredible strength (being able to lift objects far larger than himself, his fists possessing enough power to smash through solid rock, and his feet being powerful enough to crush any creature beneath him), durability (being able to withstand powerful blows and harsh enviroments), and stamina (being able to compete in several sports leagues and Olympic challenges with relatively great results). He tends to carry a hammer with him for added firepower, and is naturally adept in employing the many different power-ups that the Mushroom Kingdom has to offer, which he tends to keep on hand for emergencies; though an immense useage of Fire Flowers over the years seem to have granted him a limited variant of pyrokinesis.
Weaknesses:
His most notable weakness is his impulsiveness; he's more of the acting type than the thinking type, and generally doesn't work with strategy as much as could be expected. As such, a foe who strategizes heavily could outsmart him. Also, in spite of the many power-ups he has (as seen below), aside from one of them (guess which one), a single well-placed blow will knock Mario out of that state.
POW Move:
Any Power-Up: Pick only one of Mario's multiple power-ups? What, are you crazy?! Throughout the years he's been living in the Mushroom Kingdom, Mario has used and benefited from oh so many power-ups, your head would spin from counting. In no particular order, here's just a brief selection:
Fire Mario: A Fire Flower grants Mario an excessive control over pyrokinesis
Invincible Mario: A Starman turns Mario invincible; producing a rainbow aura that strikes foes down with little effort
Metal Mario: A Metal Cap coats Mario in a heavy metallic alloy that grants him additional power, with no loss for his speed
Raccoon Mario: A Raccoon Feather grants Mario the curious ability to float and even fly distances with his slightly prehensile raccoon tail
Frog Mario: A Frog Suit allows Mario to more easily swim underwater, while also granting him unlimited breathing room underwater
And there's oh so much more, but if we listed them all, we'd be here all week.
Chaos/Magic Ability:
Mario Finale: Tapping into his natural pyrokinesis, Mario unleashes a blatant firestorm from his hands upon his enemies; scorching everything in his path.
Personality:
...wait, Mario has a personality?
Oh, of course he has; he's the everyman, the guy who can do anything in spite of the danger or tasks needed of him, and the kind of guy who will do what's needed of him. He's confident and brave; almost to the point of recklessness, especially when it comes to the safety of not only the princess, but his other friends and the entire kingdom as well. To this end, he'll gladly toss himself into the fray, even when not knowing what he's up against, and when knowing that the situation is life-threatening. In addition, while he is fluent in English, he has a bit of an accent, and generally prefers to either speak Italian, or just remain silent.
History:
One night, whilst playinghis own video game an NES title late into the wee hours of the morning, one Mario found himself being barraged by not only a princess, but the enemies from the game itself. A monstrous turtle king kidnapped the princess, who dropped her broach before she was pulled back in. Mario relayed this story to his brother Luigi, who initially didn't believe him until he noticed the broach. While his brother was only concerned with riches, Mario's focus was on helping the princess, as he simply couldn't turn his back on the problem.
From there, the Mario Brothers actually found a way into the Mushroom Kingdom, where they journeyed to defeat the evil king Bowser Koopa, and save the kingdom and its monarch with the aid of a few items strewn about; the Starman being the final item Mario needed to toss Bowser right back to his own kingdom. Though this first adventure ended on a high note, Mario found himself unable to forget about this wonderous place, and eventually came to live there permanently. For a while, Mario dated a woman named Pauline, but she decided to break it off due to how 'close' she felt Mario was to the princess. Still, he didn't really take it that hard, and kept his friendship with the girl.
Eventually, Mario discovered records that actually proved that he and Luigi were born in the Mushroom Kingdom, rather than Brooklyn as they had earlier suspected; having battled Bowser and his minions even when only infants. Apparently, their true parents had fled to the real world as the Koopa King grew older, and learned of their true location; though Mario didn't exactly remember this, he figured it made sense as the Yoshi race seemed to hold him and his brother in high regard.
